Commercial Video Production & the US’ Love Affair With All Things Olympic

“There is good, there is great, and there is Meryl,” said Dancing with the Stars judge Len Goodman, speaking of our beloved Meryl Davis.  Meryl is one-half of the ice dance duo/gold medalists with whom Robin Bond Media crew had the privilege of filming before, during and after the Sochi Olympic Games.  Although Meryl’s tow-headed partner Charlie White was voted off this season’s DWTS competition a few weeks ago amid protest, his 15 minutes of fame is nowhere near ending.  http://www.mercurynews.com/entertainment/ci_25793526/dwts-injury?source=inthenews

In addition to Meryl Davis, Paralympian and Sochi bronze medalist Amy Purdy is also enjoying a star turn on this season’s DWTS, practicing with partner Derek Hough in the Paralympic Village for a week-and-a-half before medaling in the debut Paralympic event of cross snowboarding.

The truth is… Olympic training builds great entertainers.  It’s no coincidence that two of the three couples remaining on DWTS after last night’s semi-final include Olympic and Paralympic medalists.  The physical discipline and mental composure that are basic ingredients of the Olympian makeup lend themselves easily to the poise and charisma of today’s TV and digital stars.

Next week is the DWTS finale. The odds are that one of our Olympic champions will prevail.  Most importantly, however, is that Meryl Davis and Charlie White will dance with each other on wood for the first time in public.  To see them dancing on dry land while practicing privately for the Sochi Olympics, see this episode on Team USA’ YouTube Channel:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkqMcm3HUmM.  Click here to see this series we worked on about Meryl and Charlie, as well as Paralympian and Sochi 2014 Silver Medalist Tatyana McFadden.
